THIS WEEK IN WASHINGTON: Tax Talk Continues, Senate Moves Forward with Historic Supreme Court Appointment, Congress Set to Take Recess

While the Senate has been busy with the Supreme Court confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson—who will serve as the first Black woman appointed to the Supreme Court—the House and Senate prepare for an upcoming spring recess.

Tax issues remain in focus following the release of President Biden’s budget last week that outlines a number of industry pay-fors. This week, NMHC weighed in with Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen advocating that the value of community development tax incentives, including the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, be preserved as part of any global minimum tax.

DEVELOPMENT COSTS ARE CLIMBING—WE NEED YOUR HELP TO TELL OUR INDUSTRY’S STORY

Because our 2018 survey proved to be such a critical resource, NMHC and NAHB are partnering once again to collect cost of regulation data in effort to educate and inform lawmakers, media and industry leaders about the excessively burdensome costs facing the industry.

The survey is currently in the field and we need your help to ensure its success. Please complete the survey by Monday, April 18. Or, if you are not the right person to take this survey, please forward this email to that person in your company.
